Harrington Woodfuel Co. is the first and only woodfuel supplier in the West Midlands to be accredited by Woodsure and Woodsure Ready to Burn. We have the relevant certifications to prove that the kiln-dried firewood you purchase from us is ‘Ready to Burn’.

Woodsure is a not-for-profit organisation which aims to improve the quality of woodfuel in the industry. The Woodsure certification scheme and its logo makes it easy for woodfuel users to recognise the suppliers and products that they can trust.

Following recent publicity around poor air quality and how the increased use of wood-burning stoves is contributing to this, questions have been raised about casual consumers’ knowledge on the quality of woodfuel they are using.

As of 1st May 2021, the government will ban the sale of wet wood. The burning of freshly cut or unseasoned wet wood contributes significantly to high levels of particulate emissions, as well as being unsafe. This is because wet wood produces more smoke than dry wood, releasing more pollutants and small particles into the air.

Instead, burning dry wood has significant and demonstrable benefits as it reduces the amount of particle emissions produced, helping to improve air quality.
