January saw the Harrington Woodfuel team out and about collecting old Christmas trees for recycling.
The team visited homes in Kings Heath and Moseley in south Birmingham to pick up the trees that people had left out. A donation of £10 was asked in exchange for the service, to raise funds for the Dogs Trust. The charity is close to our hearts as it’s where our Operations Manager, Matt, got his German Shepherd and best friend from!
The Dogs Trust do amazing work looking after and where possible re-homing dogs that have had a troubled past. We hope our contribution will help them to continue their great work.
Our campaign means that not only are we raising funds for a good cause together but the trees themselves are put to good use as we burn them in our 100% biomass boiler that powers our kiln, enabling us to offer a sustainable fire wood in our kiln dried hardwood logs. We only use wood from British forests to keep our carbon footprint to a minimum and because they are dried to less than 20% moisture content they burn cleanly in your wood burning stoves.
